Kings Dominion
The girls are now preparing for the competition in Kings Dominion. They have worked so hard and come a long way. Some of the girls have never cheered before and have enjoyed their first year. I really love working with these girls. The competition is being held at Paramount Kings Dominion on April 25th. It will be a fun experience for the girls. The girls will compete and then get to have the day to explore the park.
Cheerleading Camps
Many cheerleading teams go to a cheerleading camp in the summer to improve their squads' skills. There are many different cheerleading camps. I am interested in taking my team to a camp. The Elite Cheerleading Camp is located in Maryland so it is very convenient for my team. This would be a great learning experience for young girls. It is also very cost efficient.
Cheerleading Fundraisers
Cheerleading Competitions can be expensive. Many cheerleaders need to travel a few hours as well as stay at a hotel. Not to mention the food for the girls as well as the cost of the competition. Usually, a typical cheerleading filled weekend can range starting at $400. Many squads go to at least 3 different competitions. So it only benefits the cheerleaders if you participate in a fundraising event. Some squads hold car washes or bull roasts. Also, a few ideas could be a rafflle or candy bar sale. In the past, I have went down to the Raven's game to raise money while people tailgate. If anyone has other ideas, feel free to post comments. Suggestions are always welcome!
Parkville Extended Season
Since the regular season is over, Parkville Rec has organized two extended season teams. One is for ages 14 and under, and the other team is for ages 10 and under. I coach the 10 and under squad. We travel to different competitions in Maryland as well as Virginia. Our latest competition was Reach the Beach at Ocean City, Maryland. I am so proud of the girls. They receieved 4th place. Our next competition is at Paramount Kings Dominion in Richmond, Virginia. Good luck girls!
